  Please support ACES efforts to help students gain knowledge about Juneteenth in an age appropriate and culturally responsive manner by donating for the prizes awarded during the Juneteenth Essay Contest.

  Students write an essay entitled "What Juneteenth Means to Me". The top three (3) winners from each of our partner schools will receive an award ($300 for 1st place, $200 for 2nd place, and $100 for 3rd place). The 1^st place winners are also invited to share their essays at the annual ACES Juneteenth Celebration. Our current partner schools are:

  • Atkinson Elementary School
  • Moore Elementary School
  • Anne Street Elementary School

  The ACES Education Committee presents an afternoon of challenging fun! Test your knowledge of Black Trivia, from history to music to current events.

  This event is limited to 66 players (11 tables of 6 players each) and includes a box lunch and beverage.  $ Prize for the winning table.

  Tickets are non-refundable but transferrable.

  ACES Juneteenth Celebration

   Wednesday, June 19, 2024  5:00pm – 9:00pm

  Celebrate the 159th Anniversary of Juneteenth, when word of the signing of the Emancipation Proclamation by President Abraham Lincoln finally reached African-Americans in Texas, two and a half years after its signing. This is the third anniversary of the federal holiday.

  Come and enjoy a traditional family picnic. Grill Master Chef Gerald Joseph will be grilling hamburgers, hot dogs, and veggie burgers. Condiments, chips, soda, water, and cupcakes will also be provided. Bring your own picnic table, chairs, and décor. The theme this year is “We are Family.” Prizes awarded.

  Headlining the entertainment are some of ACES hottest stars - Gwen Milner, Marva Mitchell and Jay Tucker. Get lucky and “take the cake” at the Cake Walk contest. We will recognize our partner elementary schools; you don’t want to miss this! Bring your friends and family for an outdoor Juneteenth Celebration at its best.
